San Diego to Columbia, Part 20 – Pennsylvania

This is the last day of our journey.

I am desperate to watch cartoons!

We passed through Pennsylvania and went on the turnpike where we had to pay money to use the road.

This is her new home in Columbia, Maryland. On the left is a giant tree outside, much larger than trees in arid San Diego. Then there is a privacy fence, and the townhouse on the right.

San Diego to Columbia, Part 18 – Iowa, Indiana

We left Waterloo, Iowa and drove to Greenfield, Indiana, just east of Indianapolis.

We stayed at a really nice motel with an indoor pool and spa. We played in the water for over an hour, then  watched Men at Work.

I am sick and tired of traveling.

San Diego to Columbia, Part 17 – Iowa

We played at the park in Waterloo, Iowa.

We went to the Cedar Rock home designed by Frank Lloyd Wright, walked on the Cedar Valley Nature Conservatory Trail (we saw lots of birds, frogs, fish and a turtle), then went to a duck pond that was so shallow the fish swam on top of the water.

We came home to Sarah’s apartment and went swimming.

We took a tractor ride in the state park.

San Diego to Columbia, Part 16 – South Dakota, Minnesota, Iowa

Today we drove and drove and drove.

We went through South Dakota, Minnesota and Iowa.

We got in very late and stayed with Sarah Franklin, part of our chosen family.

We saw corn, sorghum, soybeans, sunflowers, also corn, corn, corn, and a deer.

There were lots of cows and horses, and we could smell pigs and hear them squeal from the shipping trucks.

❂ Lykara

Lykara was fascinated with the farm animals in Iowa. But after encountering several trucks carrying pigs, she was particularly fascinated with the pigs.
