InfoWorld

Completed conversion of my one:

InfoWorld

story. This involved scanning the tabloid original, converting it to text (using OCR, Optical Character Recognition), and then adding it to the site. Tracking down “typos” from the OCR process occupied most of the time.

InfoWorld started life as a microcomputer and gadget journal, at a time when the industry was made up of hobbyists, futurists, tinkers, and only a very few formal engineers and computer scientists. By the time this was published, it was very much a trade journal, focusing on the industry, and this article was a spoof of the industry.

The cover illustration is a photo; the scanner is much too small to handle something tabloid size.
