Jim Sanborn's "Coastline" in 34 photographs
Coastline is a kinetic sculpture located on the NOAA (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration) campus in Silver Spring, MD. Jim Sanborn unveiled the sculture in 1993, designed to resemble ocean waves crashing into a rocky New England coast.
This series of photos was taken with a Nikon CoolPix 950, one of the best second-generation digital cameras. The photos were taken in rapid succession, partially to test the camera and partially to create frames that could be combined to create a stop-action video clip. Also, it was March 31, and cold.
