Broughty Castle, Broughty Ferry, Dundee. Portions of the castle date back to 1496. It was largely rebuilt in 1860 as a coastal defense fortification, and was last used in World War II by the Submarine Miners who maintained minefields across the Firth of Tay to keep out Axis forces. © 2004 Lawrence I.
