Jean-Baptiste Donatien de Vimeur, comte de Rochambeau, commanded
the French army that landed in America and joined forces with the Americans
in the seige of the British at Yorktown. A Lieutenant General, in theory
he outranked George Washington, and never quite understood why the
Americans failed to appreciate his superior talent, skill, experience,
leadership,
wisdom, humility and modesty.
