As the military personnel (and US civil service personnel) were paid in dollars, this dropped the value of a dollar from $1.00 to $0.27.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Similar problems emerged in Europe, which had a much larger U.S. military presence. Military divorces skyrocketed, as did military bankruptcies. The news story was a snapshot look at the crisis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
