The Indian name for the area was Hahd-Skus, or "Long Nose." The name Point No Point was given to the area by Charles Wilkes in 1841. Territorial Governor Isaac Stevens signed a treaty on the point with local tribes granting the U.S. all territory from the crest of the Olympic Mountains to Puget Sound in 1855.
